A keen shooter since my teenage years, mostly game shooting but also some target shooting and stalking. I had the opportunity to ‘Keeper’ my own shoot for a number of years which I enjoyed greatly, and have since been an energetic member of a number of shoot syndicates, mainly in East Anglia.
My background is as a scientist, and I was awarded an MBA and DIC from Imperial College London. The majority of my working life had been in the areas of business incubation and creation, having started and grown several businesses. In all, I have founded or co-founded 14 businesses, ten of which have been sold, and two have been less successful.
I taught entrepreneurship at the Harvard Business School in the 1990s and then joined the University of Cambridge Judge Business School in 2000 to found the first Department of Entrepreneurship. I remained on the faculty until retirement in 2018. My focus and passion has been teaching others how to grow their business ventures, particularly with regard to help in identifying goals and objectives, building effective teams and raising money.
