John Browning has had a career in journalism and start-ups. He worked as a journalist and editor at The Economist for 15 years, was a founding editor at Wired, consulted on technology strategy with McKinsey, co-founded First Tuesday, an early Internat networking and start-up support group, and invested in technology companies. Most recently he was chairman of Australian Oil-Shale Holdings.
He is a trustee of the Great Bustard Group, which is re-introducing the great bustard to the United Kingdom, the Gunmakers Company Charitable Trust and the Union Station Foundation of Ogden, Utah. He is a member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers.
THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF GUNMAKERS
The Gunmakers Company Charitable Trust is the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers which was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1637 to promote and regulate gunmaking, a role it still fulfils today.
